RIVER HOUSE
A small granite house built in the 1960s by the writer António Alçada Baptista, inspired by his grandfather, who was the first person to build a house in Serra da Estrela, and by his father, the former mayor of Covilhã.
The house was constructed above a waterfall, with a beautiful landscape around it, hence the name River House.
It was in this house that the writer António Alcada Baptista found his literary refuge, where he wrote his first book "Peregrinação Interior Vol 1." He also welcomed his great Portuguese writer friend, Jose Cardoso Pires, who also wrote one of his books here, along with Brazilian writers Jorge Amado and Zelia Gattai
